Do you like math(s)

As the title says, do you like maths? Do you have any specific strength/weakness?

Like I've said in another thread, Maths is my most favourite subject ever Gotta love all the formulae and calculations. Well geometry is okay for me but the rest rock. Gotta love those like trigonometry, differentiation, relative velocity, binary system...

I could really care less, about it, I see how it can help you in life, but I just think it is boring.

I like mathematics because it is usefull and I'm (fairly) good at it. I don't know what I'm better at or worse at. They are all pretty much the same to me >.> This year though... I've had the "Math class of Hell."

My teacher is stupid and doesn't teach well. My classmates are disruptive and half of them are getting pretty low marks. Luckily, I have intelligent people in my class as well. Another downside is that the teacher doesn't teach untill very late and rushes while making numerous errors (she no longer seems to respond to my corrections).

Normally I would be getting good marks but lately the situation has gotten worse (not to mention I get home fairly later each day T.T) since the last "assessment" we had was idiotic. It was open notebook (I laughed at how little the book would help anyone who payed the slightest attention) and yet, many were begging to use their textbook, claiming that the never received any notes (ironic since they complain at the sheer amount of notes we write each day). They were allowed, all the while breaking my concentration with their petty argument.

Turns out that the awnser to a question was in the textbook. This wouldn't be so bad... had they not told the teacher. She changed the question and I had to rush to finish (not even getting to re-check). My mark was quite a few percent lower than normal (due idiotic errors such as using + instead of -).

Woah... I went into a full-fledged rant. Very sorry to anyone who bothered to read that >.<

Anvil, I had a "Math class of hell once". My "Math Class of Hell" was last. My teach did not know squat about what she was teaching. All she did was read directly out of the book, in monotone. Each one of us in our class (which was total of about 22) was sent out at least once or twice that year. Even the best students were sent out, just for whispering to a classmate. She was so strict I did not really learn anything. and come the time of the final exams there were only 2 As (1 being mine because i needed the good grade), 1 B, and the rest Cs or lower. She had to grade on a curve because the grades were so bad. The lowest grade was a 45%. I hated every moment of her class... TToTT it brings back horrible memories. That year pretty much ruined math for me.

That poll's FAR too general for me. As an engineering student, math is sub-divided into specific fields; for example, statistical mathematics, theoretical mathematics, and engineering mathematics. If you're asking if I like to play with numbers, that'd be yes. Generally, I like math; I just don't like the way professors are teaching most of it at the university, that's all ...

Heh, everyone here in my math class (it's divded into 4 groups, 2,3,4 and 5 where 5 is the highest and I'm in it) knows how to do everything even without the teacher explaining it(our text books come with an example on how to do stuff and that is enough for everyone) and usually everyone gets grades between 70%-90% because of mistakes like that .
